Who is the program for?
Three groups: people facing felony DWI charges (third DWI or more, intoxication assault, intoxication manslaughter, DWI with a child passenger and other alcohol-related vehicle felonies); people on probation whose community supervision is at risk of revocation; and licensed professionals facing a licensing board, such as pilots, nurses, physicians, master plumbers, structural engineers and counselors. We don't accept misdemeanor DWI cases unless a professional license is involved.
How is progress monitored?
Randomized drug and alcohol testing twice a week using LC-MS, 24/7 remote monitoring with a wearable device, and attendance tracking. With your consent, we send weekly compliance reports to your probation officer and your attorney.
How much does it cost?
Most of the program is covered by health insurance. Payment plans are available for copays, deductibles and anything insurance doesn't cover. See insurance verification.
How long is the program?
It depends on the charges, your needs and what's agreed with the court. Most people take part in outpatient treatment and monitoring for three to five years.
What is the schedule?
All times are San Antonio (Central) time. Evening hours let most people keep working while they're in treatment.
What does the program include?
Individual, group and family counseling, recovery planning, case management, physician care and medications, lab testing, twice-weekly drug and alcohol testing, and monitoring. Participants are expected to take part in a 12-step or similar support program. Following the treatment plan is the single most important part of a good outcome.
Do you use medication?
Yes, when appropriate. Non-addictive medications are the standard of care for alcohol use disorder. Your physician will tailor them to your diagnosis and symptoms.
Can you guarantee I won't go to jail?
No one can guarantee a legal outcome. What we can do is help you show the court real, documented progress, which courts and prosecutors take into account.
Can I keep my job?
Yes. Groups run in the evening. Federal and state law may also protect time off for treatment; ask your employer or attorney.
